Shoalhaven - State forest and National Park camps as per brochure.  Check first for suitability for caravans phone 1300 662808 Nowra or (02) 4444 8819 Ulladula.

Silverton (25 kilometres north of Broken Hill) - Penrose Park, Silverton: Picnic area with reserve type camping. Hot showers and some powered sites available.  At $9 per adult per night and $5 extra for power, moderately priced rather than low cost but more suited to those who prefer a bush camping style than a town caravan park.   

Snowy Mountains - There are a number of NSW Forests in the Snowy Mountains region see Snowy Mountain Forests some of which have camp grounds (pets permitted).   Many of these are not suitable for caravans but there are suitable areas around Blowering Dam.

Sofala area - Upper Turon Campgroundbeside the river 5.9 kilometres upstream from Sofala, composting toilet only. Crossley Bridge Camping Area  500 metres downstream from Sofala on the northern bank of the river. Wallaby Rocks Crossing Camping Area 4.6 kilometres west of Sofala on the Hill End Road it is on the eastern side of the bridge over the Turon River beside a large waterhole.  Coles Bridge Camping Area 13.5 kilometres west of Sofala.

South Coast area - See National Parks campgrounds. Not all of these are low cost and some have park entry fees.

South Moorland (Taree Shire) Coopernook Forest Park, Forest Drive, South Moorland to the north of Taree – toilets, wood barbecues, free

Spring Hills - see Wilcannia

Spring Ridge – (50 kilometres north west of Quirindi via Caroona) - toilets, hot showers, water, some powered sites, low cost.  72 hour limit

Stroud - Showground has powered sites, toilets, showers, and laundry $18 per night.  To book a site please phone the Stroud District Office on 02 49945204 between 9am to 12pm Monday to Friday.

Stuart Town (south ofWellington) to the east of the town - Mookerawa Waters Park on Lake Burrendong, entrance cost $8 per vehicle, camping fees apply – low cost for unpowered sites $7 per person per night   

Sunny Corner State Forest and Recreation Reserve - 36 kilometres east of Bathurst and north from Meadow Flat or Kirkconnell on the Great Western Highway between Lithgow and Bathurst.  Mary’s Park Camping Area, 2.7 kilometres west of Sunny Corner. No facilities, free. Sunny Corner Campground, No facilities, free. Sunny Corner Arboretum, No facilities, free.  Some dirt road to access . 

Sydney surrounds - See National Parks campgrounds. Not all of these are low cost and some have park entry fees.

Taralga - Showground powered sites $20 ($16 pensioner),  unpowered $15 ($12 pensioner).  Toilets, showers, water.  Room for large rigs. Long stays permitted. 

Tarana (west of Lithgow) - Flat Rock Campground Mutton Falls Road, Tarana.  Toilets, free

Taree - (Taree Showground, Muldoon Street, Taree – toilets, hot showers, some powered sites, near commercial prices at $24 for two ($12 for a single). Phone 02 65524056 to check prices and availability.)  See also South Moorland (Coopernook Forest Park).

Temora - $15 powered sites at Showgrounds. Phone 02 69771801 to book

Tenterfield – Tenterfield Showground serviced camping, pets permitted.  $18 per night unpowered ($25 powered).  Bluff Rock rest area Ten kilometres south on New England (one night) barbecue, toilets and picnic tables; small rest area fairly close to Highway. Girard State Forest Crooked Creek Rest Area 40 kilometres east of Tenterfield on Bruxner Highway and 500 metres south from the highway. Flat grassy picnic area by creek. Toilet.  Bonshaw Dam – 75 kilometres east of Tenterfield on Bruxner Highway.  No amenities. 

Thora (fourteen kilometres west of Bellingen) – The status of this unofficial campground at Roses Reserve is under review, with a trial period of twelve months commencing August 2013. A donation to Thora Community Hall Committee is requested for this pleasant and roomy campground.  Toilets and water.  Pets permitted.  By the Bellingen River and close to Thora store.    

Toongi Hall – 30 kilometres south of Dubbo via Obley Road (past zoo), 200 metres south of Toongi Road turn east in Toongi Hall, $5.00 donation, toilets and power.

Trunkey Creek - 56 kilometres south of Bathurst on the Goulburn Road at Trunkey Creek Showground on Arthur Street. Fees are payable and there are coin operated showers

Tuena – via Crookwell.  Community run campground.  $1 coin hot showers. $5 unpowered and $10 powered.  Abercrombie River – Eight kilometres from Tuena, no facilities, caravan access unknown.  

Tullibigeal – Community run free camp in Pioneer Park with flushing toilets, showers and power. 

Tumbarumba - Camp grounds no charge, with toilets and fireplaces.  No power available at any of the free camping. All allow dogs under control.  Camping Grounds: Henry Angel Track Head, seven kilometres south of Tumbarumba; hot water in basins, gas and electric barbecues, no charge, undercover picnic area, toilets. Access to Hume and Hovell Walking Track.  Suitable for big rigs. Paddys River Flats; eighteen kilometres south of Tumbarumba, right beside Paddy's River, toilets, fireplaces, picnic tables. Suitable for big rigs.   Paddys River Dam, Bago Forest, north of Tumbarumba, on the Hume and Hovell, walking track, picnic table, toilet.   Mannus Lake, four kilometres west of Tumbarumba, on the Hume and Hovell, walking track, toilets, picnic tables.  Geehi Rest Area, 34 kilometres south of Khancoban, beside the crystal clear Swampy Plains River, historic huts, plenty of kangaroos and emus.  Tom Groggin Rest Area, fifty kilometres south of Khancoban next to the Murray River. Only the camping grounds in Kosciuszko National Park require a pass. Different rates for summer and winter. Park Entry Fees.   The Henry Angel, Paddy’s River Flats, Jingellic reserve are the most popular with the larger rigs – all outside the park.  Rosewood Golf Club provides low cost camping sites with access to showers and toilets, but not power.  See also Jingellic.

Tumut – Blowering Dam in the Bago State Forest.  Unserviced camping along the dam over a big area.  Pets permitted.  See also Kosciuszko National Park and Snowy Mountains. 

Uralla - Free camping at the Wooldridge Recreation and Fossicking Reserve which is located six kilometres from town along the Kingstown Road. Facilities include; pit toilets, wood fired barbecues, picnic tables, town water and rubbish bins.  Yarrowyck Crossing Reserve beside Gwydir River 26 kilometres north west of Uralla towards Bundarra on Thunderbolts Way, with five kilometres of good gravel road. Free. Pit toilets, wood fired barbecues, picnic tables, rubbish bins. The Glen - off Barleyfields Road at northern end of town. Free overnight camping for self contained units. Shade, gas barbecue, toilets and water nearby. Close to New England Highway.

Urbenville - Recreational Reserve $10 per night.  Powered sites and basic amenities.

Wagga Wagga - Wilks Park, off Hampden Avenue, Wagga Wagga. On Murrumbidgee River, toilets, barbecue facilities. Dump point installed November 2011.  Free.  Please note that Wilks Park is now registered for camping for self contained vehicles only with a 72 hour limit. Dump point and toilets on site.  Kohlhagen’s Beach, off Sturt Highway, west of Wagga Wagga. boat ramp, swimming, camping, fishing. Free.  See also Oura Beach.

Walgett - Free primitive camping ground, Alex Trevallion Park, Castlereagh Highway (Fox Street) Walgett. Toilets, barbecue, filtered water and dump point provided.  Walgett Showground – Amenities provided,$11 unpowered ($22 powered) per night. 

Wallabadah - Wallabadah Park camping behind First Fleet Park alongside Quirindi Creek. Just off the New England Highway via Coach Street. $10 donations requested which are being used to contribute to improvements to the amenities, and has enabled a renovated amenities block includes hot showers.  Potable water taps at campsites.  Free electric barbecues.  72 hour limit.   

Wallactetown - Rest Area along the Olympic Highway south of Junee – toilets only

Wantabadgery (35 kilometres east of Wagga Wagga in the Junee Shire) – Free camping at Sandy Beach Reserve on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River; pits toilets, non potable tank water

Wardell - Sandalwood Van Park twelve kilometres south of Ballina at 987 Pimlico Road Wardell.  From $16 unpowered and from $18 powered, pet friendly.  Prices are not up to date.  Phone 02 66834221

Warren – Main Roads Rest areas OK an overnight stop: Six kilometres north on the Oxley Highway, near the junction with the Warren-Quambone Road.  To the south on the Oxley Highway between Nevertire and Warren around eight kilometres south of Warren.  No amenities

Warrumbungle National Park: Not all sites are suitable for caravans – check on website at Parks Camping. Park access fees apply and are $7 per vehicle per day (or annual park pass).  Camping currently $5 per person per night for adults unpowered.  Pay at Warrumbungle Visitor Centre of use honesty box if after hours. 

Wattle FlatForty kilometres north of Bathurst on the Sofala Road The Heritage Grounds One kilometre west of Wattle Flat.  Wattle Flat Race Course 4.5 kilometres from village on Limekilns Road

Wauchope - Showground.  Phone caretaker for availability and price 0459240252

Wee Jasper – Campgrounds in the Wee Jasper Reserve have toilets and some have hot or cold showers.  Priced at $11 per person per night.  See facilities at each campground

Weethalle – 60 kilometres west of West Wyalong, Weethalle Showground, north of the Mid Western Highway via Cow Street, $10, power, water, toilets and hot showers.

Wellington - Free camp ground at Ponto Falls, fifteen kilometres north west of Wellington with seven kilometres dirt road access.  Bins only.  Plenty of places to camp alongside the Macquarie River. 

Werris Creek –  20 kilometres north of Quirindi - Parks Street, water, no amenities, 72 hour limit, free.

West Wyalong - Showground $20 per night with power $15 unpowered,  water, toilets, showers (new amenities block), camp kitchen and laundry.  Dump point on site. 

White Cliffs (about 50 kilometres north of Wilcannia) - $20 per night with good amenities, laundry and dump point.

Wilcannia - Spring Hills Rest Area 75 kilometres west of Wilcannia is the most suited to overnight stays of a series of rest areas along the Barrier Highway with toilets, picnic shelter, barbecue and bins plus a playground.

Willow Tree – 18 kilometres south of Quirindi - At Recreation Ground at the end of Recreation Street, toilets and showers, pet friendly, potable water available, room for large caravans and motorhomes.  72 hour limit.   Free (donation requested) for unpowered, or $15 for power and water. 

Wingello - Wingello State Forest (south of Berrima and Mittagong), Forest Road, Wingello (unsealed road), toilets, dogs allowed, will take large rigs.

Wingen - Burning Mountain Reserve just to the north of the town has free camping

Wingham - Wingham Showground, Gloucester Road, Wingham – toilets, hot showers, some powered sites, $18 for two. Phone 02 65534083 to confirm availability and price

Woodenbong – Low cost community run campground in Unumgar Street.  $5 unpowered or $10 powered site. $1 showers.  $20 refundable bond for amenities key. Donations welcomed. Pets permitted.  Booking recommended if wanting one of the limited powered sites. Pay at Mobil Driveway or Faye’s Takeaway.  Phone 02 66351300  About Woodenbong

Wylandra Crossing – 24 kilometres west of Dubbo – Newell Highway north to Burroway Road then left into Rawsonville Road. When Rawsonville Road turns east (sharp right), turn south and follow the dirt road to the reserve. Park by Macquarie River, free, no amenities.

Yalwal -  Danjera Dam 27 kilometres west of  Nowra. Access via Yalwal Road and then Burrier Road. Camping in designated areas. Toilets, barbecues, non potable water.  No charge.

Yetman - Yetman Caravan Park, 59 Macintyre Street, Yetman.  Full amenities, pets permitted. $10 per night with or without power (only six powered sites).    Bush camping along Macintyre River.   

Young – Free 24 to 72 hour parking for self contained caravans and motorhomes only is available at the Young Showground. This free overnight parking does not include the use of water, power, showers or toilets at the Showground. Park at the rear of the showground (turn right on entry). If users wish to connect to power, or use the shower or toilet facilities a charge of $15 per night applies. Note that water is no longer supplied.  Water can be purchased from the Shire Depot.
