These pages will
feature some of the wildflowers we have photographed in Western Australia, and where possible, identified. If you
are able to help identify further flowers, or correct any I may have wrong, please contact us.
Information given for each species
will give botanical name, known common names, describe the flower, give time of year it flowered, and where it was photographed, and
the areas it occurs in. Names have been matched to Florabase which has also been used to show distribution.

Waitzia acuminata Yellow Everlasting, Orange Immortelle
The specimen at right was well past its prime, but shows the 'everlasting'
effect of these flowers.
An all yellow paper flower, with multiple blooms per stem. These are taller growing that most Spring
flowering paper flowers
Spring
Found throughout much of the state with the exception of the northern Pilbara and Kimberley regions.
Waitzia acuminata var. albicans Paper Daisy, Everlastings, Poached-egg Daisy
Cluster of white everlasting flowers with deep layers
of papery petals with a prominent yellow centre. Can be pink on the outside as the open, giving a three colour effect.
Spring
Westringia dampieri Shore Westringia, Coastal Rosemary
Shrub around one metre high, white flowers with three narrow petals
pointing down and two wider petals pointing upwards. Red speckles on the lower petals from centre. Close up shows
furry flowers.
Photographed in March, near the end of its flowering season.
Albany coastal, and occurs near the coast from
Shark Bay to Perth and along most of the south coast of Western Australia
Wurmbea sinora
This tiny white flower has six petals, with a bulbous purple centre on female flowers. The second photo shows the
size of the flower compared to a five cent piece. Flower comes from between two fine long leaves, which are longer than
the stem.
July to September
Bridgetown, and occurs through the South West, the Wheatbelt south of Perth, the Great Southern and along
the southern coast.
These were photographed at Ajana and on the Nangetty-Walkaway Road, Mid West region, Western Australia. Some occurences through
the Wheatbelt, and occasional finds outside of these areas.
Wurmbea tenella, Eight Nancy
This tiny white or pink flower which has eight petals, with a purple spot on each petal, and
a bulbous purple centre on female flowers. Flower comes from between two fine long leaves, which are longer than
the stem.

and Goldfields regions
