How to find public showers when travelling.

Many roadhouses have showers; some for a fee of around $3 to $5 and others free. Patronise the roadhouse if using a free facility.  There are often more showers available for men than ladies (eg three to one) as they are catering principally for truck drivers.  BP fuel stations with showers.  Shell Truck Stops, select showers for your search.  Caltex is now branded Ampol hence this Caltex fuel stations brochure is now out of date, but without an updated list for Ampol it will still be of use.

Some Visitor Information Centres have hot showers available.

We have found in the past when travelling to a town where no showers are available at all, approaching a local Hotel and offering to pay for a shower has been met with a positive response, however these days most small towns have a caravan park with showers, be it private, Shire run, or in conjunction with a Hotel.  Many caravan parks allow use of showers by non guests for a fee usually between $2 and $5.50 and some Shire caravan parks may offer the service free.

Town swimming pools or Recreation Centres are another option, and usually have hot showers in the change rooms.  Sometimes a reduced fee applies for showers only; otherwise you pay the full entrance fee for that facility.  Parking nearby may be a problem for a small sports facility, however larger ones usually have a big parking area which would be suitable for caravans and big rigs.

There are usually cold showers at beach change rooms or sometimes just an open air cold shower as you leave the beach; these are free.

The town you are visiting not here?  It may well have showers.  A town may not be listed because it does not have showers available for the public, or it may be due to difficulties in obtaining information for that town or region.   Check with the local Visitor Information Centre.

Public showers can also be found using the Public Toilet Map and selecting showers only.  You need to search by town.

Contributed showers found by travellers can be found on Wikicamps
