Sources used for identification of wildflowers shown on these pages and regions where they occur see Credits

These pages will feature some of the wildflowers we have photographed in Western Australia, and where possible, identified.  If you are able to help identify further flowers, or correct any I may have wrong, please contact us.

Information given for each species will give botanical name, known common names, describe the flower, give time of year it flowered, and where it was photographed, and the areas it occurs in.  Names have been matched to Florabase which has also been used to show distribution.

See some of these wildflower in larger sized photos on our Flickr pages.

Diuris longifolia, Purple Pansy Orchid, Donkey Orchid, Common Donkey Orchid and Wallflower Orchid (above).
Yellow with purple or pink tinges or colouring. Two rounded petals like ears above the orchid, several flowers on single stem.  There are variations of colour shades and shapes in different colonies with this selection all being photographed within much the same area, and all look like Pansy Orchids.  Dark on rear of petals, at right.  These flower later in the season than Diuris corymbosa.
The flower above left is unusual not only in colour, but in being uniform colour across all petals.
Late Spring, September October.
Bridgetown, South West Region, Western Australia and found throughout the South West, Great Southern and into adjacent Wheatbelt regions including in and around Perth and to the north of Perth.
