Home > Lists and Links > Recommended nice and good value caravan parks > Western Australia continued

Access from Hepburn Street which is the main street of town and part of the Great Northern Highway which runs through the town. Easy walk to town centre from the caravan park.

Roomy and level drive through sites. The park was being extended when we visited in 2009.  It had been cleaned up considerably since our visit five years previous.

Need key for amenities block which has ladies to one side and gents to the other with laundry in middle. Nice tiles showers with mirrors in dressing area, roomy with barrier to keep water out of dressing area. Amenities kept clean and in very good condition.  Water pressure good, there was adequate hot water. Additional building has a further laundry and disability bathroom (locked). Washing machines $2. Dump point.

Tourism information:  A short drive through recently closed mines to a lookout hill where evidence of mines from the pick and shovel days can be seen amongst modern larger mines.

Pros: Friendly and helpful hosts. Park has been cleaned up since our last visit five years ago. Sullage points and taps added. Permanents removed. Nice shower recesses.

Cons: On highway and in town so subject to traffic and general town noise.

$18 per night for two powered

Date of stay:  September 2008.

Denmark Rivermouth Caravan Park, Denmark

Denmark is 53 kilometres west of Albany.  The Rivermouth Caravan Park is 1.5 kilometres south of the town via Hollings Road following the river to Wilson’s Inlet.  There is a public boat ramp, car park and well maintained toilets adjacent.

Level green grassy sites, with those nearest the inlet being very large.  Others further away from the water’s edge are smaller.  Some sites have annex slabs.

Two amenities blocks, with the larger being a renovated older block with bathrooms, laundry, fully equipped camp kitchen and under cover communal area with free barbecues and plenty of tables and chairs.  The new block is smaller and includes a disability access bathroom which was locked so not inspected.  Shower curtains screen off dressing area where rubber floor mats are provided.  A large non slip mat along the front of the showers add to the cleanliness and useful touches to these bathrooms.  Update 2017:  The mat in front of showers and rubber mats are no longer being provided.  A third amenities black has been added.  This is spacious and has a disability access shower and ambulant toilet which is not really suited to wheelchair use.

Dump point.  Pets permitted.

Cabins on site.  Children’s playground near large amenities block, and a swing set near new amenities block.  Kiosk at office sells icecreams, milk and bait.  Boat and canoe hire.

Tourism information:  Denmark has easy access by road to the south coast, including surf and quiet swimming beaches with the latter (Green’s Pool) being enclosed by rocks to make a family safe swimming area.  Fishing in the inlet (by boat) and at the surf beaches. Numerous wineries and restaurants.  National Parks in the area include William Bay National Park (where Green’s Pool is found) and the Mt Lindesay National Park where an easy walk trail to the top gives expansive views to the inlet, coast, and to ranges such as the Porongurups and Stirling Range.  Various walking, cycling and horse riding trails including part of the Bibbulmun Track.

Pros:  Lovely quiet waterside location out of town but an easy walk to town on a riverside walk trail.  Pet friendly.  Clean and well appointed amenities and recreation areas.  Large grassy flat sites.  Views across inlet which has abundant black swans, pelicans and other water birds.

Cons:  No discount for unpowered in main caravan sites.

From $28 for two powered.

Updated 2017 from $37 to $55 seasonally.

Weekly and four nightly discounts apply.
