Membership of the motoring organisation in the state where your principal home is will give you coverage Australia wide through reciprocal arrangements.   They may also cover you if you have membership of an overseas motoring organisation.  Phone 131111 Australia wide for breakdown assistance.  If you are using a phone on an international network, you need to use the international +61 when dialling roadside assist.

If you have a higher level of cover specific to your state, to access this you may be required to telephone a separate number to access roadside assistance and these are shown hereunder.

For those with hearing impairment, most states have an SMS option, and can be used for members of that state as listed.  These may only operate within set hours.  See options state by state for those with hearing impairment hereunder.  Check with your state as to whether you should SMS the state of your membership or the state where you are requiring the assistance as advice varies.

In most cases, you are required to reside in the state of the organisation, and benefits may be calculated according to distance from "home" eg if accommodation is required if too far from home. While most state organisations will accept a postal address or an address of a relative being used whist travelling, RAA specify a physical address.

See details of cover types and towing limits for Western Australia (RAC), Victoria (RACV), Queensland (RACQ), South Australia (RAA), Northern Territory (AANT),Tasmania (RACT) and New South Wales ACT (NRMA).
